The Beauty of Meditation

I'll be explaining three of the most powerful methods of meditation (in my opinion) to help guide you towards a more positive life.

Hinduism is the oldest religion in the world, therefore meditation is the oldest spiritual practice that exists today. In Hinduism, meditation is used to help control your mind and enhance you spiritually, mentally and physically. Nowadays meditation is practiced by people of various religious backgrounds as well as people that don’t identify with any specific religion because meditation is a spiritual practice and not a religious practice (I know that seems repetitive, but a lot of people don’t understand the difference). Meditation has several benefits that can benefit you holistically as it is a powerful practice if you truly set your mind to improving your lifestyle and well-being. Below I’ve listed a few of the most popular forms of meditation that you can add to your daily routine.

1. Visualization Meditation

This is my favorite form of meditation personally because it is vital in order to successfully manifest what you want in life in addition to being a powerful healing tool. Visualization meditation is basically imagining yourself reach your goal through mental images and feeling what it’s like to have accomplished it. Fortunately, when you're visualizing your goals during the meditation the law of attraction starts working and I promise you that if you truly believe in the goal that you visualized then it will happen for you. However, if you go into the visualization meditation with major doubts and insecurities then it most likely won’t work for you; an open mind is vital for this form of meditation. When deeply visualizing your goals, your brain can’t decipher whether or not you’re having a physical experience or if you're just imagining it. It’s all the same to your brain, so you’re basically creating a memory and because you’ve created that memory then it becomes embedded in your subconscious mind, which is ultimately the goal because the law of attraction begins to do its job from that point on. Another way to utilize visualization meditation is by visualizing positive images or positive moments in your life and ultimately that will relieve stress and deliver peace to you.

Benefits of visualization:

· Boosts your mood

· Relieves stress

· Helps you achieve your goals

“In my mind, I’ve always been an A-list Hollywood superstar. Our thoughts, our feelings, our dreams, our ideas are physical in the universe. That if we dream something, if we picture something, it adds a physical thrust towards the realization that we can put into the Universe.” – Will Smith

“I would visualize things coming to me. It would just make me feel better. Visualization works if you work hard.” – Jim Carrey

2. Mindfulness Meditation

While practicing mindfulness meditation, you are intensely paying attention to the thoughts that come across your mind without any judgement of yourself whatsoever. Your only goal during this form of meditation is listening to your thoughts and noting any patterns that you observe throughout the process. While meditating, you are working on improving your focus and also increasing your level of self-awareness. You are in the present moment. Many of us spend too much time worrying about the past or the future, so this powerful meditation helps center you by bringing you to your current reality. In my opinion, this practice is one of the most helpful for strengthening your relationship with yourself because the focus is predominantly on learning more about yourself and the way that you think as well as grounding you by bringing your mind to the present.

Benefits of mindfulness:

· Focusing on the now

· Improves mental health

· Stabilizes your emotions

· Strengthens your self-awareness

"Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment." – Buddha

"The present moment is filled with joy and happiness. If you are attentive, you will see it." – Thich Nhat Hanh

3. Loving-kindness Meditation

As the name suggests, loving-kindness meditation is based receiving and sending love. This form of meditation strengthens our feelings of kindness as well as accepting others and ourselves. Many people internalize a lot of anger and resentment whether it’s geared towards other people or our own selves, so if you identify with that then this is the perfect meditation for you. Holding onto anger and resentment can lead to not only mental health issues, but also it can make us physically ill as well. The technique for this meditation practice is pretty simple, all you have to do is take a few moments to sit and open your mind and heart to receive love. With anger and hate comes stress, so you must cleanse yourself of the toxicity that comes with those emotions before it ultimately destroys your soul.

Benefits of loving-kindness:

· Increases positive emotions

· Enhances emotional intelligence

· Slows aging process

· Improves social skills

“We all are so deeply interconnected; we have no option but to love all. Be kind and do good for any one and that will be reflected. The ripples of the kind heart are the highest blessings of the Universe.” – Amit Ray
