Advice That Completely Altered My Reality!

Over the past two years of my life, I've realized the importance of listening and through listening to those that are wiser than me I've been able to completely transform my life for the better so I'm here to share some of the most transformational advice I've received thus far.

Growing up the last thing I wanted to do was listen to the advice of my elders because in my mind they just didn't get it, but as time progressed I've come to the realization that I'm the one that didn't get it.

I hope these quotes help you as much as they've helped me.

Other people's perception of you is their responsibility.

It's so easy to get caught up in other people's opinions of you especially the opinion's of those that don't know you on a personal level. Once I learned that people's perception of things is simply a reflection of what goes on in their own minds and how they feel about themselves, I then stopped caring about how they view me because I know the person I am and anyone that's meant to be in my life will see me in the positive light that I see myself as well.

You are not the main character in everyone's story.

We are all living within our own movie with our own supporting cast and it's sometimes hard to recognize that you're just the supporting cast (or even an extra) in other people's story. I would constantly wonder why people weren't there for me the same way I would be there for them, but after I received this advice I realized that everyone's living their own lives where I'm not one of their main priorities and that's okay but it was up to me to figure out where I stand with people and reciprocate the same energy.

It's you vs. you!

This is one of the most valuable lessons that one can learn in life because I feel like so many people spend their time comparing themselves to others and worrying about what their neighbor is doing. Pageants especially taught me that there is so much value in being authentically you because we're all put on this earth for different purposes therefore we're all on different journeys. Comparing yourself to others will only bring about unnecessary insecurities and it's important to know that you won't be happy attempting to live in someone else's version of success,

Become the best version of yourself and it will attract your people to you.

This was something I learned very recently and I'm so grateful for it because it completely altered my perception of relationships in general. After reflecting on my past romantic relationships I asked myself, "why do I constantly find myself in relationships with men who don't align with my morals and values?" I then realized that every time I got into a relationship, I was in a very confused state of mind where I wasn't thinking clearly. For example, with my last relationship I was in a major career identity crisis and although I didn't realize it at the time, once we broke up it became apparent to me that I used that relationship as a distraction from what was actually torturing me which is not fair to do to anyone especially when you know deep down that person isn't the type of person you'd end up with long-term. So once I spoke to my mom about it, she told me that I need to work towards becoming the best version of myself internally and professionally and that will not only attract my ideal romantic partner, but it will also attract lifelong friends as well because focusing on yourself and your goals prevents you from ending up in the wrong places surrounded by the wrong people. I now find myself much happier and completely clear about the direction I want to go in life and I trust that God will send me people who are meant to be in my life as I go through this journey.

Don't just talk about what you're going to do, do it.

We all have hopes and dreams, but so few people actually take the actions necessary to fulfill those desires. Like many, I follow a ton of accounts that talk about manifestation and they promote a plethora of different methods to manifest your dream life whether that be by writing goals down or visualizing it through meditation, but rarely do I see them talking about how you actually have to take action and put yourself out there in order to achieve these goals. So many people out there are just hoping that a miracle will fall into their lap and although that seems great, it just isn't likely and at one point I was one of these people. However, now I see beauty of the journey towards your success and the rewarding feeling of taking action by working hard for something that you truly desire. Procrastination is so common and it's easy to become distracted by things that don't serve you whether that be binge-watching your favorite show or mindlessly scrolling through TikTok, but that's not to say that you shouldn't be able to enjoy those forms of entertainment because leisure time is important, however those things shouldn't consume your life and halt you from being able to achieve your goals. So what are you waiting for? We all have to start somewhere so why not start now?

Thank You!
